The 2020 Early Detection Conference, jointly hosted by CRUK, The Canary Center at Stanford and OHSU took place from 6-8 October 2020. One of the highlights of the event, which this year was conducted virtually, is the awarding of the Don Listwin Award for Outstanding Contribution to Cancer Early Detection. Inaugurated by Don Listwin, founder and chairman of the Canary Foundation, the award recognises individuals or teams who have have contributed to the field of cancer early detection either through an outstanding sustained commitment or a singular achievement. Last week's conference saw the award presented posthumously to Professor Sanjiv Sam Gambhir, Stanford University, whose work has driven paradigm-changing progress in Early Detection and trained and inspired countless researchers in the field. His legacy continues in the work we all do in early cancer detection.
